Curlew (Numenius arquata) have become increasingly rare in this area and have not been seen for a number of years on the Clwydian Range. They are more likely to be spotted on the Llantysilio mountains where larger areas of boggy ground can be found. They can be easily distinguished by their long, thin, down turned bill. Curlews breed on damp grassland and moorlands.
