Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus) - The most commonly seen bird of prey in Britain, widespread in the Clwydian Range and Llantysilio mountains. The males have a spotted, orange and brown back and grey head. Females have brown plumage. The Kestrel has a wingspan of between 65 and 80cm. They feed mainly on small mammals but also eat insects in summer. They are commonly seen hovering, hunting for prey.
