Silver Birch (Betula pendula) - Easily recognisable from its rough silvery bark, Silver Birch is one of the first trees to regenerate naturally on unmanaged moorlands. Scattered Silver Birch can be seen on the lower slopes of most moorlands in the Clwydian Range and Llantysilio mountains, particularly in deep heather and gorse where sheep have been unable to graze.
