After rain first thing the weather brightens for a dry sunny day. The day is spent finishing off excavating before tiding up the site so that recording can begin. All archaeology is destruction so this is a vital part of excavation – making a record of what has happened and what has been found so we can analyse it and preserve the record for the future.
